QUINTA

DE BALDIAS

Quinta de Baldias is located in Cima Corgo sub-region in an area between Varosa River and the left bank of River Douro, in the village of Valdigem, Lamego Council. The wines from Lamego region have been famous for a long time. In fact the first Portuguese wines reported to have been exported to England, the so called “shipping wines”, were also known as Lamego wines showing the importance of this region as the birthplace of the future of Port wine.

Quinta de Baldias is spread out for about 20 hectares of land having the noble grape varieties from the Douro Valley such us Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Rabigato, Cercial and Gouveio on the whites and Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela and Sousão on the reds.

Manuel Viseu is a young winemaker and owner of Quinta de Baldias, who is following tradition in the viticulture to representing the third generation of a family dedicated to this business. Since 2007 Quinta de Baldias is a biological producer using biodynamic methods to produce all of their wines.

An elegant, complex aroma of very ripe fruit with well-integrated, well-balanced oak, hints of spice and preserved fruits. On the palate it is well balanced, with medium body, good acidity and firm tannin, along with complex flavours of aromatic ripe fruits.
