HERDADE

DO COMPORTA

Herdade do Portocarro lies within the demarcated Península de Setúbal. It includes an extensive flat plain next to the river Sado, where own brand rice is grown – Loverice –, as well as an area of gentle hills where the 18 ha vineyards are located.

The name of the estate took inspiration from a local high spot, formerly called “carro”, the region’s highest point. But also on account of the small port which has marked the landscape for many centuries, since the times when transportation was mostly done by river.

An elegant, complex aroma of very ripe fruit with well-integrated, well-balanced oak, hints of spice and preserved fruits. On the palate it is well balanced, with medium body, good acidity and firm tannin, along with complex flavours of aromatic ripe fruits.
